First United Methodist Church of Lexington, Kentucky is seeking a part-time Coordinator of Children’s Music Ministries beginning on or around July 1, 2010. The person in this position will provide primary oversight, supervision, and leadership in a comprehensive Children’s Music Ministry for children from birth through 5th grade. Plans for the 2010-2011 program year include three separate vocal choirs for children in grades K – 5, a chime ensemble (grade 3) and a handbell ensemble (grades 3-5). It is expected that this person will personally direct at least one children’s ensemble but will also be responsible for recruiting and training volunteer leaders for other ensembles. In addition to weekly rehearsals throughout the school year and regular participation in worship services, this individual will also be responsible for a children’s Christmas musical and the annual Summer Music and Arts Camp.

The Music Ministry of First UMC is growing rapidly. As a result, there is significant potential for expansion of this position. Formal training in children’s music education and/or significant, documented experience with children’s music is required. Keyboard skills along with training in Orff, Suzuki, Kindermusik or MusikGarten are a plus. It is expected that the time commitment for this position will average 8-10 hours per week. Second Presbyterian Church in Louisville, Kentucky, and 1800 member congregation, is looking for a part time director of Children’s Choirs. The director will conduct two elementary age choirs and oversee the director of the preschool choir, as well as schedule worship singing opportunities with the Director of Music Ministries, communicate with parents on a regular basis, and act as the liaison to the Kentuckiana Choristers Guild chapter, whose Children’s Choir Festival is held at Second Presbyterian each March. Salisbury Presbyterian Church is seeking a part-time organist/accompanist. Responsibilities include: play two Sunday services; accompany Chancel Choir, Junior Choir, and Youth Choir Rehearsals; occasionally lead sectional rehearsals as needed; attend staff meetings as needed; and play for special services in the church year (Christmas Eve, Holy week, etc.). Need to be available to play for funerals and weddings with additional compensation as designated in the church guidelines. Bachelors degree and previous church music experience required. Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is seeking one or more professional musicians to fill roles in its music ministry program. Separate descriptions for each role may be found on our website: gloriadeiolympia.org.

• Organist for two traditional liturgical worship services on Sundays plus special services throughout the year. Pipe organ (III/P; 60 stops; 63 ranks).

• Choir Director for weekly rehearsals (August to June) of one choir that participates in one or more worship services on Sundays (September to June), plus special services throughout the church year. Choir presently consists of 25-30 adults and young adults.

• Accompanist for piano accompaniment of choirs and soloists at worship services, rehearsals and special services throughout the church year.
