Twin Cities Children and Youth Choir Festival 2025
Details
March 15, 2025
Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church
Minneapolis, MN
Description
Join us for the Choristers Guild Twin Cities Chapter Children's Choir Festival on March 15, 2025. Mari Espeland, who works with children's choirs at Mount Olive Lutheran Church (Minneapolis), will lead the elementary choir for children in 1st-5th grades. Dr. Jennaya Robison, Artistic Director of the National Lutheran Choir, will lead a youth choir for ages 6th-grade and older. While the children and youth are engaged in rehearsals, directors can attend a workshop facilitated by Sara Lukkasson, Director of Music at the Blake School. Sara will share practical ways to integrate Orff techniques into your rehearsals, even if you don't have access to Orff instruments in your context. Additionally, you'll be able to observe choir sessions led by Mari and Jennaya.
The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. for everyone. We will enjoy a simple lunch together around Noon. Then, we will participate in a hymn festival led by the children and youth. The hymn festival will begin at 2:00 p.m. and end by 3:00 p.m.
Registration will be open by the end of the year. The registration fees ($15/child, $25/director) includes music, lunch, and a t-shirt. If cost is a concern, we are pleased to offer scholarship funds to assist.
