Description
Move Well, Sing Well
The Alexander Technique
A Holistic Approach to Singing, Choral Conducting, Vocal Pedagogy and Performance
with presenter Rev. Sandra Dager
Tuesday, November 19
12:00pm central
The Alexander Technique is a holistic, psychophysical educational method developed by F.M. Alexander which teaches people how to move naturally, easily, and efficiently–the way they moved when they were young children.
In this webinar we will explore some basic foundational principles and aspects of the Alexander Technique and consider their implications for singing, choral conducting and vocal pedagogy. Topics will include the impact of mirror neurons, sitz bones and sitting, stage fright, and whole body vs. compartmentalized approaches to singing and vocal pedagogy. We will also explore two psychological/mental factors: “end-gaining” and F.M. Alexander’s understanding of inhibition.
This webinar is free to Choristers Guild members and available to non-members for $30. The webinar will be recorded and available to all registrants to watch on-demand.
