CGA1216 Mary, Mary
Description
Michael Burkhardt's arrangement of Mary, Mary is a haunting and thoughtful adaptation of Avery and Marsh's original song. The text explores the different names of Jesus - Lord, Shepherd, Savior and King - and what the Christ child means to all of God's people. As the vocal line splits in to two parts, the composer has used canon techniques and rhythmic lines against sustained lines, producing an interesting yet accessible piece for all ages.
