An original setting of Psalm 46, this festive piece opens with a flourishing, rhythmic introduction. The reflective middle section incorporates beautiful text-painting of the verse, "There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God?". With a return to the beginning statement, an uplifting and joyful ending is achieved with full chords and articulations that allow this piece to be a perfect choice for special occasions in church and festival settings. Includes a versatile accompaniment for either piano or handbells, with optional instrumental parts for trumpet and flute.
