CGA806 Come Worship God This Holy Day
Description
Uses the German Lutheran chorale tune HERR JESU CHRIST, DICH ZU UNS WEND located in the 'Cantionale Germanicum' of 1628. The alternating 6/4 and 3/2 meters give it a dance-like quality, and the original text provided by the arranger addresses all aspects of corporate worship including carrying the good news of the Gospel out into the world. Its strophic nature and limited range of seven notes make it suitable for younger children as well as upper elementary singers. The piece would even be successfully divided so that the first three verses, all beginning with 'Come worship God' could be used as an Introit. The final verse, 'Go now to serve,' would then be appropriate for a Benediction response.
Voicing: Unison voices with keyboard, optional flute, and optional tambourine
Composer: Cantionale Germanicum (1628)
Arranger: Bedford, Michael
Text Author: Bedford, Michael
