CGA825 Samuel Was a Friend of God

Description

This picture of the boy Samuel's response to the Lord (from 1 Samuel 3) features a rollicking tune and captivating dialogue between Samuel and the elderly priest, Eli. A chant-like melody depicts the Lord's call to Samuel. There is a brief section which expresses the singers' response to the lesson learned from the story of Samuel. The piece closes with a canon-like segment which may be sung in 1, 2, or 3 parts. The final word, 'Samuel' works well as a spoken whisper or as the printed pitch.
