CGB1193 Aurora - 5-8 octaves

Description

If you’ve ever had the opportunity to see the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, then you know of the sheer magnitude and stunning beauty this phenomenon provides. Matthew Compton’s original work, Aurora, is part of our new Bay View Week of Handbells Series. It was commissioned by Fred Gramann in honor of his wife, Nancy, and the main melodic theme is a representation of Nancy Gramann’s name. The title Aurora seemed fitting, since the word “aurora” is defined as “dawn.” The dawn of a new day can offer a number of different emotional experiences, including joy, excitement, peace, sorrow, beauty, and reminiscence. This composition presents all of these emotions. Those experiencing the breathtaking sight of the Aurora Borealis may experience a similar range of emotions, either individually or simultaneously.
