CGB1316 The Wexford Carol - Handbell Score
Description
Subtitled, “Good People All, This Christmas Time,” this 12th century Irish carol begins with singing bell chords and a delicate chime tree underneath the freely played melody. Deep tom toms, congas or bongos, and finger cymbals are added, and the carol becomes more rhythmically steady through the use of a repetitive, malleted bass line, resembling a slow processional. An upper treble countermelody is introduced, while the melody and bass lines are played by optional handchimes. The conclusion is much like the beginning, with singing bells and chime tree, followed by the rhythmic, malleted bass line and drums, gradually fading away. This haunting, gentle arrangement is fitting for either worship or concert. The percussion parts are included in the full score.
